Cold-Weather Cooking
By Sarah Leah Chase
Workman Publishing Company - 1990
One of my very favorite cookbooks for the fall and winter here in New England! The recipes range from simple to elegant and Sarah Leah Chase has a great talent for painting a picture with the stories she tells as she sets the scene for each of her recipes. Published in 1990, the book is now nearly 20 years old but her writing and recipes are not dated, as appropriate in today's kitchen as they were when first written.
The Gourmet Cookbook: More than 1000 recipes
By Zanne Early Stewart, Ruth Reichl, John Willoughby
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt - 2006
A compendium of some of the very best recipes from Gourmet Magazine. An important reference for any home cook, with tested, solid recipes for thousands of dishes.
The New Basics Cookbook
By Julee Rosso, Sheila Lukins
Workman Publishing Company - 1989
My very first cookbook as a "grownup". A classic, and helped give me the love of cooking (and cookbooks) I have today.
Pedaling Through Burgundy Cookbook
By Sarah Chase
Workman Publishing Co. - 1995
Another favorite from Sarah Leah Chase - lovely French recipes "translated" for the American home cook.
