Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook
By Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Terry Hope Romero
Da Capo Press - 2007
This is the cookbook that I turn to when I want something impressive to show off 'my' cooking skills. It's a huge doorstop of a vegan cookbook that has a recipe for any occasion or time of day or craving that you can think of. I think everyone needs at least one book like this to refer to for inspiration.
Highlights from the book:
1. Chickpea Cutlets smothered with Mustard Sauce
2. Mushroom and Spinach Strata with Home Fries for a super deluxe brunch
3. Baby Bok Choy with Crispy Shallots and Sesame Seeds
4. Chili Cornmeal-Crusted Tofu and Southwestern Corn Pudding
I could go on because I have a ton of favourites from this book, but those are a couple of them.
Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar: 100 Dairy-Free Recipes for Everyone's Favorite Treats
By Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Terry Hope Romero
Da Capo Lifelong Books - 2009
More awesome recipes from the Moskowitz/Romero team. I've tried a couple dozen of the recipes and they're all perfect. And as usual there's plenty of great cookie porn to go along with the recipes.
Favourites:
Tahini Lime Cookies
Caramel Pecan Bars
Chocolaty Crinkle Cookie
Deluxe Cocoa Brownies
Peanut Butter Chocolate Pillows
And not to be boring, but the recipe I use the most in here is the chocolate chip cookies. They are the perfect, chewy chocolate chip cookie. I will probably never use another recipe again.
