Beyond the Great Wall: Recipes and Travels in the Other China
By Jeffrey Alford, Naomi Duguid
Artisan - 2008
I haven't made a lot of the recipes from this book yet but it is a very enjoyable read and has beautiful photos of not only the recipes but of the many out of the way places in China the authors travelled to.
Vegan Yum Yum: Decadent (But Doable) Animal-Free Recipes for Entertaining and Everyday
By Lauren Ulm
HCI - 2009
The recipes are delicious and simple. I have tried several and not been disapointed. The Hurry Up Alfredo Sauce on p. 195 is absolutely scrumptious! Thankfully there is a photo accompanying each recipe.
The Joy of Vegan Baking: The Compassionate Cooks' Traditional Treats and Sinful Sweets
By Colleen Patrick-Goudreau
Fair Winds Press - 2007
This is an excellent, traditional, baking book with something for everyone. I have made at least 12 recipes so far, some of them multiple times and all have turned out very well. You would never guess (and most people never do) that none of these recipes contain any dairy products or eggs.
Some of my favourite recipes are the Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins, Chocolate Cake, Apple Cake and the Chocolate Chip Cookies.
First Meals
By Annabel Karmel
Dorling Kindersley Ltd. - 2004
Lovely and inspiring photographs that appeal to kids but some of the recipes are a little too time consuming and fussy for a busy mom.
Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World: 75 Dairy-Free Recipes for Cupcakes that Rule
By Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Terry Hope Romero, Sara Quin
Da Capo Press - 2006
This darling little book includes a beautiful colour photo for most of the recipes, clear instructions and cupcake ideas for every occasion. There are also lots of suggestions for additions and a great troubleshooting guide. I have made three recipes so far and all have turned out beautifully.
