Around My French Table: More Than 300 Recipes from My Home to Yours
By Dorie Greenspan, Alan Richardson
Houghton Mifflin Harcourt - 2010
This looked beautiful. But...the recommended cheese never really melted, and it never browned/crisped on the top despite the thirty minutes it spent without the "lid" at the end of bake time. I couldn't really taste the bacon or herbs...tempted to try this again just to doctor it up. I really wanted to love this, but it was "meh."

This is a nice way to dress up broccoli, I think next time I would cut the lemon though.

It might not taste very exciting but it was easy to make and the first successful loaf of sandwich bread I've made.

Easy to make. Light and fluffy inside, nice crunchy crust on the outside. I did use loaf pans instead of making these free-form, but they turned out wonderfully.

Just ok. Easy, but kind of boring.

Ok pie crust. Didn't think it was flakier than normal pie crust.

Directions were easy to follow and the resulting cake was tender, moist, and flavorful. I really enjoyed this particular recipe.

The blackberries didn't really add much except visual interest. Tasty. The cardamom was a nice touch. Not too sweet.
*I have the kindle edition which doesn't give page numbers*

Probably more expensive and time consuming than most Quesadillas. But more delicious as well.

The Bread Baker's Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread
By Peter Reinhart, Ron Manville
Ten Speed Press - 2001
I love the buns, they are so airy and light. They look and taste very "professionally made." I did use the lemon zest/extract in both the buns and the fondant...and it was a bit much for me (vaguely lemon cleaner) and way too much for my husband. I would definitely make these again, just using vanilla instead of lemon!

Very easy, relatively quick and delicious! I made hot dog buns, and can't wait to try the other two variations.

I love the marinated steak, but the salad was just "so-so." I will probably make this again.

Cooking the Roman Way
By David Downie
HarperCollins e-books - 2011
This Italian cheesecake is a mix of ricotta and chocolate (or sour cherry jam) baked inside a delicious pie crust! It isn't too sweet, and it isn't too fussy. I would definitely make again, and it's certainly lighter (and more novel) then New York Cheesecake.
*of course I have the e-book edition and have no idea what the actual page number for this recipe is! But it is the last recipe in the book.*

This was easy to make and had a great flavor, although next time I would add more ginger to the Ginger Mayo. The Mayo was amazing!

Great flavor, but very mushy/soggy. Maybe next time I'll play with how to cook them so I can get a little bit crispier results.

Easy to make and delicious. Very soft interior, not dry/solid like a "New York style cheesecake."

I made the blueberry variation and halved the recipe...but still had the promised 12 muffins. So maybe the recipe meant 24?
Easy to make. Not too sweet. Moist.

This was definitely a project best undertaken over a day or two since the pate brisee, frangipani, and pears all need to be separately prepared, then cooled/refrigerated before assembling the crostata and doing the final bake. But...it's amazing. The frangipani makes it.
