Pasta e Fagioli from Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking

Broccoli & Olive Tart : page 66

Really 3.5 we decided.

- I didn't turn up a reliable recipe for a whole wheat pastry, and didn't feel like making even a regular one in the end, so defrosted a store-bought one, a highly rated brand, but it just isn't as good as homemade.
- The flavors of the roasted bell peppers and olives went together especially well.
- I used a very mild goat's cheese. I think a more assertive one would have been better, maybe crumbled or in slices with the other tart ingredients, rather than blended into the egg mixture.
- I forgot to add the half&half to the custard, which explains why there was rather little of it, but no big deal.

Quite tasty, but points off for the crust and the namby pamby goat's cheese (both my fault).

Caramelized Cabbage & Pasta : page 54

So so. I made a half recipe. The amount of pasta was way too small. The one cup for a full recipe might should have been two cups. One half cup for a half recipe was laughably small. Good tastes, but missed a bit of zing. Some red pepper flakes sautéed with the onion and cabbage might have been nice.
