About me: I collect cookbooks and love to cook and try new recipes. I tested recipes for Leite's Culinaria for almost eight years. I learned to cook from many good southern cooks including my Mom, Dad, several Aunts and my Grandmothers. My children and husband also like to cook and try new foods and recipes. My son still lives with us but our daughter is married. She often visits to cook with me. We are adventuresome eaters willing to try new things.

Bourbon Roasted Pork Loin from Everyday Dorie: The Way I Cook

This was delicious. I know she says in the book not to use the good bourbon but all I had was Woodford Reserve so that's what I used. I marinated for about 8 hours in fridge. Loved the apples and onions... read more >

Broccoli Salad with Sweet Vinaigrette : page 142

Although this was very good it tasted like it needed a little something. It was good eating with some grilled Italian style turkey sausages and couscous. I didn't have the red onion called for and used vadialia instead. Not sure if that would have that much affect on the recipe though.

Parmesan-Pepper Sweet Potato Fries : page 122

I've tried several oven baked sweet potato fries and I like most of them. I think this one may be the best. Loved the addition of a little Parmesan, along with garlic, paprika, cayenne, black pepper, salt, and just a hint of olive oil. I was surprised to see ketchup listed in the ingredients as an optional dip since most people think I'm odd when I dip mine in ketchup. I will be making these goodies again.

This was an excellent sandwich. I didn't have the red onion called for so I used a vidalia instead. Loved it on the whole grain bread. I made the sweet potato fries from page 122 to go with.
