About me: I collect cookbooks and love to cook and try new recipes. I tested recipes for Leite's Culinaria for almost eight years. I learned to cook from many good southern cooks including my Mom, Dad, several Aunts and my Grandmothers. My children and husband also like to cook and try new foods and recipes. My son still lives with us but our daughter is married. She often visits to cook with me. We are adventuresome eaters willing to try new things.

Maw Maw's Chicken and Dumplings : page 168

Love my Mom's chicken and dumplings and sometimes crave them when it's cold. I finally learned how to make them almost as good as Mom's before she passed away. Mom never added veggies to hers though and I wanted to try some that had a few. This one has carrots onions and celery and the dumplings were very similar to the ones she made. I did double the dumpling recipe though since my kids and I like more than one in our bowls. I served this with mashed potatoes and green peas just like Mom did. I did add black pepper to the dumplings though since Mom did and we enjoy BP on ours. This was good, almost as good as Moms.
