This was delicious and easy to pull together. An easy do-ahead dish as it improves if left at room temperature for an hour or two before serving. Recipe calls for a full teaspoon of red pepper flakes but I found a half teaspoon to be plenty of heat.

Served with a baked salmon dish (coriander-cumin rub; topped with a lime sour cream and chopped cilantro) from Food and Wine magazine. Also a small serving of Ina Garten's sugar snap peas dressed with a small amount of toasted sesame oil and black sesame seeds (also easy to do ahead).

May be a good dinner party menu -- goes well with either Sapporo beer or sake.
