Recipe Reviews

I didn't have the problem with dryness the other reviewer mentioned. The brownies tasted good, and they smelled divine thanks to the coffee in them. The best part was the glaze.

They are, however, very crumbly. The only binding agent in the recipe was cornstarch. I tried to cut these and they immediately fell apart when the knife hit them (yes, I let them sit in the fridge overnight as directed.) I ended up having to tote these to work in the baking pan, along with a large spoon. There was no other way to serve them. But other than the aesthetic issues, they were a hit.

Again, I really wanted to like these. Without the glaze, I would have rated these a 2. The only sub I made was using white whole wheat flour in place of all-purpose (a sub I routinely make in all recipes with great success). The brownies came out very dry and crunmbly, saved a bit by the glaze. I baked these only 2- min as instructed and, as the recipe states, they do seem underbaked when you pull them out so I don't think they were overbaked. A cold glass of nut milk is pretty much a necessity with these. This recipe won't be replacing my brownie standbys.
