About me: I love cooking, I love eating, I love discovering new recipes. I have so many cookbooks I sometimes lose track of which recipe is where - though this site helps a bit. I have gone low-carb in 2010, so that's different recipes to explore again. This also means I may not agree with my own reviews anymore if they were written in 2009 or before. ------------------ I have a lovely husband and ten-year old twins who also love eating. ----------------- You can also find me on LibraryThing, BookMooch and EatYourBooks, using the same handle.

New Food Fast

By Donna Hay
Murdoch Books - 1999

chicken simmered in soy and star anise : page 64

Much too salty, and the anise flavor was very faint. Also the cooking time given was too short.
I do think this recipe has potential, but it didn't realize here.

grilled fennel salad : page 60

I made quite a few changes to this one. I added red bell peppers, which I grilled along with the fennel. I grilled them for quite a bit longer than the recipe said, and only added the cheese for the last few minutes. I left out the rocket.

It was a good salad, good combination of textures and flavors. I think it could benefit from a dash of honey.

pasta with smoked salmon and dill sauce : page 26

This really does take less than 10 minutes, like it says.

A fresh summery pasta. It looks good as well, with its different shades of pink and green.
