About me: I love cooking, I love eating, I love discovering new recipes. I have so many cookbooks I sometimes lose track of which recipe is where - though this site helps a bit. I have gone low-carb in 2010, so that's different recipes to explore again. This also means I may not agree with my own reviews anymore if they were written in 2009 or before. ------------------ I have a lovely husband and ten-year old twins who also love eating. ----------------- You can also find me on LibraryThing, BookMooch and EatYourBooks, using the same handle.

Pasta, Pizza and Calzone

By Alice Waters
Pavilion Books - 1996

2nd May 2010 (edited: 3rd September 2010)

Caramelized Onions, Gorgonzola, & Rosemary : page 153

So I bastardized this recipe by using Danish Blue cheese, and adding it to pasta instead of pizza. It was still very good, although I can see the original would be even better. A drop of balsamic vinegar is nice in here - add to the onions.

The topping is also exquisite on mashed potatoes.

Salmon and roasted red pepper pasta : page 78

This was excellent. I like the way the flavors play with another - sweet roasted peppers, briny salmon, and the greenness of the basil. The textures work well together as well. The one drawback is that this dish does produce a lot of washing up, but that definitely won't keep me from repeating it. Do heed the recipe and make sure you don't overcook the salmon - it happens too easily.
