tomato soup cake from Joy of Cooking: 75th Anniversary Edition - 2006

Saw a reference to tomato soup cake in a mystery book. Sure enough--a good recipe in the Joy. This cake is surprisingly good. Certainly simple. Tastes like old-fashioned spice cake. read more >

	swedish ginger cookies From: The Essential New York Times Cookbook: Classic Recipes for a New Century (reviewed 21st October 2012) Never thought I would use bacon fat as an ingredient, but these cookies are terrific. I rolled the dough in two logs, chilled, cut thin slices. worked fine!
