About me: I collect cookbooks and love to cook and try new recipes. I tested recipes for Leite's Culinaria for almost eight years. I learned to cook from many good southern cooks including my Mom, Dad, several Aunts and my Grandmothers. My children and husband also like to cook and try new foods and recipes. My son still lives with us but our daughter is married. She often visits to cook with me. We are adventuresome eaters willing to try new things.

Bourbon Roasted Pork Loin from Everyday Dorie: The Way I Cook

This was delicious. I know she says in the book not to use the good bourbon but all I had was Woodford Reserve so that's what I used. I marinated for about 8 hours in fridge. Loved the apples and onions... read more >

Made this for supper one night and it was a hit for the whole family. Loved that it was ready when I got home from work just had to thicken up the gravy. Didn't get a pix of this one.

While this was very good family likes a cold version of this better. I liked that you dump all in slow cooker. Part of our Christmas Eve appetizers 2016.

Slow Cooker Holiday Ham

I made this one for Easter. My ham was to big for my slow cooker so I put it in the oven on 350 for a few hours. Turned out delicious.

Great way to use up leftover ham. This was good and easy since it's made in the slow cooker.

My daughter made these to take to a party where she works and had some leftovers which she brought to me. They were absolutely amazing with the homemade blue cheese dressing she also made.

This was the one new item on our Thanksgiving table this year. The Brussels sprouts lovers in the family including me loved this dish. Great way to cook them especially on the holidays as you free up the stove for other goodies and they were cooked perfectly. The parmesan and balsamic glaze made these amazing.

Sheet Pan Shrimp Boil

Whole family loved this one. Son doesn't like shrimp very much and hubby feels the same about andouille sausage so hubby ate more shrimp and son ate more sausage. We all enjoyed the potatoes and corn fixed this way. Quick, easy, delicious work night supper.

I made this for my son and I. My pieces of tilapia were small so I fixed us two each. He doesn't eat asparagus so I only made enough for me and just did enough tomatoes for the two of us. Delicious and I'd make again.

Pumpkin Churro Waffles

These were so good. Even hubby loved them. I made a half recipe for us and he ate three. I used some of my homemade pumpkin puree.

Daughter made this for us at her house for lunch. It's all made in one pan including cooking the pasta. It was delicious.

Daugher made these little lovelies for Ruby since she needs to get more fiber in her diet. Ruby gobbled them up so I think this means she gave them a 5. We've had to take her to the vet several times lately due to a gland infection and the vet says more fiber should take care of the problem. I've been adding green beans to her chicken I cook for her as well.

Mini Deep Dish Pizzas

A Christmas Eve tradition for us is to have appetizers for our supper. For the third year we did it at my daughter and son in laws. This year my nephew and his daughter joined us. We all pitched in in the preparation. Daughter and great niece made these and we loved them.

Homemade Hamburger Helper

We loved this homemade version of hamburger helper. I've tried other versions that we didn't like as good but this one is definitely a keeper. We are mushroom lovers and this recipe has a whole pound. I used baby bella's one of our faves. I used the optional sour cream which was a nice touch.

Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

While we liked this very much we all enjoyed her version of cream cheese baked spaghetti even better. Hubby even asked if that was what I was making when I made this. I couldn't find ground pork when I was gathering the ingredients to make this so I just used all ground beef. I omitted the parsley. We added Parmesan to ours when we ate it.
