About me: I collect cookbooks and love to cook and try new recipes. I tested recipes for Leite's Culinaria for almost eight years. I learned to cook from many good southern cooks including my Mom, Dad, several Aunts and my Grandmothers. My children and husband also like to cook and try new foods and recipes. My son still lives with us but our daughter is married. She often visits to cook with me. We are adventuresome eaters willing to try new things.

Alsatian Beer and Munster Soup : page 63

So rainy and much cooler here and autumn seems the perfect time for soup. Son has been requesting I make Amy Thielen's Cheddar Beer Soup again for awhile now so I decided to try this recipe. While we enjoyed this one very much we like Amy's version of Beer Cheese soup even better.

Shrimp Cocktail with Spicy Dipping Sauce : page 43

Made this for Harold, Sarita, and I for lunch one day on our OBX vacation. We all loved it. I served it in my Le Creuset mini cocottes I got with safety cash points where I work. Interesting that you ziz up most of a lemon, rind and all for the dipping sauce. Used the leftover sauce later in the week to dip our shrimp from the low country boil in.

We enjoyed these very much but some of the family missed having a crust. The compote was super sweet but worked well when eaten with the cake and a fresh sliced berry on top.
