About me: I collect cookbooks and love to cook and try new recipes. I tested recipes for Leite's Culinaria for almost eight years. I learned to cook from many good southern cooks including my Mom, Dad, several Aunts and my Grandmothers. My children and husband also like to cook and try new foods and recipes. My son still lives with us but our daughter is married. She often visits to cook with me. We are adventuresome eaters willing to try new things.

Bourbon Roasted Pork Loin from Everyday Dorie: The Way I Cook

This was delicious. I know she says in the book not to use the good bourbon but all I had was Woodford Reserve so that's what I used. I marinated for about 8 hours in fridge. Loved the apples and onions... read more >

Weeknight Cooking with Your Instant Pot: Simple Family-Friendly Meals Made Better in Half the Time

By Kristy Bernardo, Becky Winkler

Garlic Butter Green Beans : page 133

I loved these easy to make and quick green beans. Son liked them, hubby said raw. They were a little crisp but I enjoyed them that way and loved the flavor from the butter (I used Kerry Gold), garlic, lemon juice and zest. Hubby likes his cooked to death. Made a nice side to go with the ribs, and mac and cheese.

Italian Sausage and Pepper Sandwiches : page 75

These were delicious but a bit hard to eat. I ended up dipping mine in some of the extra sauce after cutting my sandwich in small bite sized pieces.

Smokey-Spicy Rubbed Chicken : page 39

I really loved this but I think son in law thought too spicy since he only ate one leg and he usually eats three. I couldn't find ancho chili powder so I looked online and found you can substitute a combination of regular chili powder and chili flakes. There were several other ingredients in the rub. Q&E in the Instant Pot.
