I don't know how many copies of this book are actually in homes, but if you want one there has been a copy in every second-hand bookshop I've been in for the past decade!
Belle Cuisine (cover: Cuisine Vivante) The International Encyclopedia of New Cuisine
By Hilary, Illustrated by David Burch (photos) Walden

Worthwhile just for the presentation photos. You eat with your eyes first.

The Garnishes (Book Of...)
By June Bridger
Salamander Books - 1997
Stupid Amazon titles and covers! Great little book showing that you don't actually need all those kitchen gadgets. These are mostly things you can do with fresh produce and a small but wickedly sharp knife.
Home style Chinese cooking in pictures
By Sumi Hatano
Reed - 1975
Gorgeous book. HB, DJ. 1977 reprint.
Nanny Ogg's Cookbook
By Terry Pratchett, Stephen Briggs, Paul Kidby, Tina Hannan
Corgi Books - 2001
A piece of fun from Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Originated from "Maskerade" which mentions such dishes as "Strawberry Wobbler", "Bananana Soup Surprise" (it's got bananas in it, that's the surprise), and "Maids of Honour". Well they start out Maids of Honour, but they "ends up Tarts". "Chocolate Delight with Special Secret Sauce" should probably only be attempted by the advanced student, with fire extinguishers and buckets of water to hand.
Step by Step Japanese Cooking
By Lesley Downer, Minoru Yoneda
Barrons Educational Series Inc - 1986
Need an edition check please. I can't find the publisher or ISBN (1845730488) via any of the three sources.
p39 "Preparing Dried Foods"

Taste of Life
By Julie Stafford

Nathan Pritikin approved. So what?
Wonderful Ways to Prepare Curries
By Shirley, Jo Ann
Ayers & James Pty Ltd - 1978
Gloriously dated but does not use "Curry Powder" as an ingredient.
The two page spread of "Cup and Spoon replacements for Ounces" is very useful but sadly not metric. I wish I had something similar in grams... Actually, no I don't; there are website and iPhone apps for that sort of thing now.
