Keralan Veggie Curry with Poppadoms, Rice & Minty Yoghurt from Jamie's 15-Minute Meals

The dish itself, the flavours, at least how I made it, that's a solid four star rating - it was delicious! Everything else - the time management, the style of writing, the layout, - oh, and did I mention... read more >

Pumpkin and Bell Pepper Curry / Kürbis-Paprika-Curry : page 40

Okay, though definitely too sweet; why add honey when pumpkin, bell pepper and coconut milk are already way too sweet on their own? Try omitting the honey, consider adding some soy sauce and some decent curry spices other than a regular store bought mix, or go for a different recipe straight away.

Quite good, actually. It didn't look anything like the photo, the biggest difference being the amount of rocket used - they must have omitted nearly all of the rocket except for a few leaves to get that look, but I really liked it.

We didn't use chorizo (didn't want) and rosemary (didn't have), and used a little more rocket (160 instead of 125g).

I panicked a little when I made the vinaigrette, as the only pot of plum butter (with rosemary, imagine my luck!) had gone bad; luckily we still had some plum jam that had turned out far too hard - using it for a vinaigrette was just the perfect solution! Alternatively, I probably would have used pomegranate syrup.

Served with Whole Roast Pork Belly with English Braeburn Apples and Polenta. Will serve with Elderflower Sorbet and Blueberry Ice Cream as a dessert on Monday.

Zander on Pumpkin Slices with Dill Pesto / Zander auf Kürbisspalten mit Dillpesto : page 34

Meh. The pumpkin was nice, the cod (our substitute for zander) was nice, but there was hardly anything that connected the two. The dill pesto surely didn't, on the contrary, I don't know what that was doing in this dish. And it didn't even look appealing!

Added 10 October 2011:
We fried another few pieces of cod and re-heated yesterday's pumpkin and rice when I thought of adding a little sesame oil and soy sauce instead of using the dill pesto, plus using a few drops of butter from the fried cod - and it was soo much better!
