Keralan Veggie Curry with Poppadoms, Rice & Minty Yoghurt from Jamie's 15-Minute Meals

The dish itself, the flavours, at least how I made it, that's a solid four star rating - it was delicious! Everything else - the time management, the style of writing, the layout, - oh, and did I mention... read more >

Breaded asparagus with Parma Ham / Gepaneerde asperges met parmaham : page 22

Wiener Schnitzel meets asparagus. While both of them belong to my all-time favourites, they just don't combine. This was especially annoying as this recipe involved a lot more work (and time) than traditionally prepared asparagus; time that we could have spent better, eg. watching the European Football Championship.

What is more, the quantities in this recipe just didn't add up. 2 egg whites were just about enough for 4 pieces of asparagus, not 12, and it didn't help that you had to bread them twice. I didn't even bother measuring the other ingredients. However, I must admit that the crust was really nice and crunchy; I might try this on a schnitzel the next time.

Lamb Chops with Anchovies and Thyme / Lamskoteletten met ansjovis en tijm : page 87

Very nice, very delicious. The marinade looked more like a rub, as it was quite dry; nevertheless, we wiped the lamb chops clean before putting them in the pan; in part because we were afraid that the ten anchovy filets would be too strong for the lamb. Nicely flavoured lamb, with other flavours coming through carefully. And yet, nothing in comparison to the Pomegranate and Honey Glazed Chops with Radish and Cucumber Tzatziki we had a few months ago.

We served this with Ottolenghi's Green Bean Salad with Mustard Seeds and Tarragon, a very good combination.
