Pears - poached in white wine, rum, lemon juice, vanilla, and cloves. Served with lemon curd mixed with whipped cream!

I used the suggested bosc pears, and followed the recipe as suggested. The poaching liquid was a bit brown colored, and I was disappointed that the pears, when cut open, had a brownish color inside. I couldn't tell if the pears were not good, or whether the poaching liquid had discolored them. They tasted good, but were not so great to serve to company.

The poaching liquid was boiled down to a syrup (pretty good), and served with lemon curd (made from the Pie and Pastry Bible) mixed 1:1 with whipped cream. This part of the recipe was spectacular!
