Delicious basic tomato sauce that one should have on hand at all times. Its method and flavour are reminiscent of this sauce, though the ingredient proportions are slightly different and Giada’s version includes bay leaves for added flavour.

I was planning to puree the finished sauce in the food processor so used the machine to chop all of the vegetables (onions, garlic, celery and carrots)…….this was a huge time saver. The sauce simmers for 1 hour and should be stirred periodically, especially towards the end, to prevent scorching…the recipe neglects to include this instruction.

This recipe made a huge batch, most of which I froze, but the recipe can easily be halved, or even quartered.

This recipe is now a staple in my kitchen. Very affordable and easy to make. I freeze the sauce in 2 cup portions...great for an evening meal after working late. I have made it both in the food processor and by knife, both are very good.

Very nice basic sauce for pasta. Easy to make. I used the food processor for this to have smoother texture.
