The Best 30-Minute Recipe
By Cook's Illustrated Magazine, John Burgoyne, Daniel J. Van Ackere, Carl Tremblay
America's Test Kitchen - 2006
I may upgrade the rating if I use it more. I have a few tried and true recipes which I like and are appealing to the kids. Good for the busy family. Better than other "fast cooking" cookbooks I own.
The Chez Piggy Cookbook
By Pandora De Green, Victoria Newbury
Chez Piggy Restaurant - 1991
The older version. The newer one is better and nicer to look at. This is from 1991 so doesn't contain their newer menu, but has some interesting meals. Can get it off Amazon.
The Chez Piggy Cookbook: Recipes From the Celebrated Restaurant and Bakery
By Rose Richardson, Zal Yanovsky, Victoria Newbury
Firefly Books - 1998
An updated version of the older cookbook, and available from Amazon. Famous Kingston restaurant. No quick recipes, but lovely food all around.
The Complete Canadian Living Cookbook: 350 Inspired Recipes from Elizabeth Baird and the Kitchen Canadians Trust Most
By Elizabeth Baird
Random House Canada - 2004
A great, well-rounded cookbook. Everything I've made turns out. Contains a lot of my standard recipes for basic things. It also contains lots of interesting recipes. A good stand-by for dinner parties. Lots of different sections for all kinds of food. Lots of instructional sections and mix and match recipes.
Everyday Italian: 125 Simple and Delicious Recipes
By Giada De Laurentiis
Clarkson Potter - 2005
Some nice basic sauces. I need to try more things from it to assess further. Good bean dip which I come back to again and again.
Fare for friends
By Fare for Friends Foundation
Fare for Friends Foundation - 1983
Very good. Recipes turn out well and instructions are easy to follow. Good for company cooking.
The Pan Chancho Cookbook
By Yanovsky, Zoe
Bookmaker's Press Inc - 2006
This book is only available in Kingston, where the renowned Bakery/Restaurant is located. The food is amazing. Some of the breads are a challenge, involving starters etc, so I just go and buy them, but their dips and desserts are straightforward and sure to impress guests.
