This is THE cookbook i go to for cooking anything!!! especially something new. I have never had anything turn out bad when using this book and have SO many favorites...It is an essential to any home kitchen and a great gift for wedding showers in my opinion. I have had many conversations about various recipes in this book with others who also love it and them....no wonder it's been a classic for so many years!

Cooking With Friends

By Amy Lyles Wilson, Jack Bishop
Rutledge Hill Pr - 1995

November 15th, 2009

okay...so honestly, i bought this cookbook for a 'friend' and because it was the #1 show at the time...kind of a fun gift/gag gift as my friend LOVED the show and didn't really cook much. Turns out that this is actually a really great cookbook and i ended up getting one for myself after trying one of the recipes before giving it to her, so i could give her some cookies with it from the book...phoebe's fabulous oatmeal-raisin cookies really are so good that it really isn't fair to the other cookies as she is quoted from the show! and i've made the kung pao chicken (joey's mom's favorite as she told one late night talk show host in another episode) has been made for many a dinner guest/party! if you enjoy the show you will love cooking and reading this cookbook as well!

By Jessica Seinfeld
Collins Living - 2007

as a mom of 3 little boys...i can officially say that this cookbook is excellent in every way! not one of the recipes i have tried has not been a hit! growing up i was not a fan of cooked vegetables (or should i say over-boiled canned vegetables from my irish mother!) but this is sneaky and yummy...even if there is question of the author's true identity! this is my current go to cookbook...(until i get good and start adding my stock of purees to our 'regular' recipes!) esp. with all the flu craze going on right now!

if you moan to think of martha's other cookbooks (pre-everyday food at least) this is one without a thousand minimum ingredients per recipe...easy and comfort foods too you can't go wrong! our favorite buttermilk pancake/waffle recipes are in here, macaroni that honestly is worth the time and effort and the varied cheeses, and maple layer cake for my husband who could drink syrup straight from the bottle!
