Possibly a perfect fall breakfast or snack!

In this recipe, steel cut oats are first toasted, and then baked with pumpkin, spices, milk, vanilla, and water. There is a bit of brown sugar and a bit of butter. The result is a creamy pumpkin pie-like matrix with perfectly cooked pearls of steel cut oats.

What elevates this recipe is the toasting of the oats before cooking, and the lovely combination of spices. I think there is too much cloves in the mix, but its easily amenable to your tastes.

I baked this in a large casserole-type dish, and it will be breakfast for a week. I like it with a bit of extra milk and a tiny drizzle of maple syrup.
