This is a much-used cookbook, with lots of interesting recipes and many more still to do.
I don't like the emphasis on egg-custard ice creams which are good, but rich, and too much bother for every day.
The recipes tend to be too sweet. I cut the sugar back by about 1/3 and we find them great like that.

As the others said, this is a brilliant book for ice cream, and I would always recommend it!

I love David Lebovitz's recipes. I much prefer egg-custard based ice cream. I've made several of his recipes. Unfortunately, his salted Caramel Ice Cream recipe is not in this cookbook (but it's on my blog). It's one of the best ice creams I've ever made. Buttery, salty, creamy... perfection! The only thing that surprised me is that David's legal team contacted me and asked me to remove the recipe for strawberry sorbet! I was so surprised, as this isn't exactly a rocket science recipe. Strawberry sorbet is pretty basic... fruit puree, lemon juice and liquor to keep ice crystals from forming. C'est la vie, I just changed a few words and his Legal Eagles have left me alone. That's a personal thing, but the man can make desserts. No hard feelings, I continue to love this book.

This is the only book I need for ice cream recipes. There's almost too much, because I can never hope to make all of these delicious treats.

This is a beautiful book that does what it should do -- it makes you want to make ice cream and then gives you a great result when you do. Love how the paperback binding is flexible enough that the book stays open at the page you are working from but strong enough to avoid pages coming loose.

As cookbooks go, this is one of the most reliable I've ever used and every time I eat something I've made from it, I'm glad it's in my library.

I got this book when I got my ice cream machine. There are SO many WONDERFUL recipes in here it is hard to decide which one to make. And they are each better than the last one.

If you have an ice cream maker and you want to have some good suggestions on what to do with it, this is THE book to get. It's as simple as that. Ice cream, sorbets, mix-ins - it even shows you how to bake your own cones.
