About me: I live in Colorado and cook for my family; my husband, my 20-year-old daughter (who is in college), and my 18-year-old son (a VERY picky eater). I love cookbooks and have quite a collection but am always looking to add more. I have been known to take a cookbook to bed and read it before falling asleep. Lately, I have found myself getting a lot of recipes off the internet and not using my cookbooks much. I would like to change this. I am anxious for this site to take off (and it will) and for the volume of recipe reviews to grow. It is such a great idea!

Skillet Blueberry Cobbler from Weber's Real Grilling

Excellent. We did overcook it slightly on the grill but we just need to get better at grill baking! Served it to a group of 5 and everyone loved it. read more >

Williams-Sonoma Foods of the World: Florence: Authentic Recipes Celebrating the Foods of the World

By Lori De Mori
Oxmoor House - 2004

We loved this! Our Gnudi fell apart a little while cooking but tasted wonderful. We did not toss in the butter but did drizzle with White Tuffle Oil.

Excellent. My husband especially liked this one.

Manhattan Fish Chowder

Make this recipe you will not be disappointed!! This is FABULOUS! I use frozen sole from Whole Foods - this is AWESOME. I'll make it on a Monday night and eat it all week for lunch. Beautifully seasoned!

Cucumber-Yogurt Dip

One of my MOST favorites. A great appetizer to set out to offset some heavier ones - this is light and good!

I thought that this was good - my children did not like it.

Thai Carrot Salad

A very tasty slightly unusual carrot salad. I loved the serrano chile and the peanuts. This one is a keeper.

Potato Salad

For a low fat potato salad this is great! Much lighter than a 'normal' potato salad but with the hard boiled eggs and a little touch of mayo was still very creamy. This one will be made often around our house.

A very good, very tasty Black Bean Salad. Lots of veggies and lots of crunch in this one. I don't think that the cheese added a whole lot to this so I would consider not adding that next time.

This was good. I'm not usually one to use the microwave for baking but my husband wanted this and it sounded easy. It was and surprisingly it was quite good too.

Weber's Real Grilling

By Jamie Purviance, Tim Turner
Sunset Publishing Corporation - 2005

This was very good. We liked both the rub and the sauce but my son liked only the rub (he liked the spiciness and thought the sauce was too mild). My daughter doesn't like pork so she had chicken and that was good too!

We loved these! The marinade has a good kick to it and the Tomatillo Salsa was amazing. You could use the tomatillo salsa on so many things. I would caution that the salsa makes a ton. I did double it since I doubled the Scallops since we had a crowd but I easily had 4x as much as needed. We also did not screwer our scallops. Ours were big fat ones so we just put them right on the grill - worked beautifully.

Great dish! Nice kick in the marinade that really stays with the shrimp. Shrimp were excellent with out the vinaigrette. I thought that the vinaigrette tasted good - but it looked funny. Not like a vinaigrette at all and really not smooth. I would spend more time on this next time and see if I could tweek it a little.

We loved this. Can't say I could distinguish a big taste difference in the roasted lemon juice and unroasted lemon juice but I will definitely be making this again.

WONDERFUL dish. We loved the flavors of this. I made without the bananas as my husband can not stand them. It was wonderful.

Very good! Great flavor and very easy (other than roasting the peppers). I had a roasted red pepper that I had frozen so we only roasted the yellow and orange today and they were all fine and wonderful. Would definitely save time to use already roasted peppers.

Weber's Charcoal Grilling: The Art of Cooking with Live Fire

By Jamie Purviance
Sunset Books - 2007

These were outstanding! The potatoes got crispy and browned when grilled the first time. Definitely had to cut around the skin as using just the spoon as you normally would with twice bakes does not suffice. The wasabi is a great addition. I ended up using about 2 teaspoons (double recommended) as I wanted the edge and it was SO good!

We used only the rub. It is a great rub and we would use it again!

I made without the ham - but with the ham could easily be a main dish. Great flavor! Will definitely make again!

Weber's Big Book of Grilling

By Jamie Purviance, Sandra S. McRae, Tim Turner
Chronicle Books - 2001

Made with Walleye instead of Sea Bass - but still very good.

Outstanding salad. I will definitely be making again. There was a lot of prep though - I think next time I would roast the beets and grill the onions the day before. They would be just as good. The orange in the dressing was just perfect! Excellent!

Stuffed Zucchini

These were easy and delicious. A great new way to serve zucchini. My daughter and son who are not zucchini fans both loved them too!

Great flavor and great crunch! We loved this and will make it again and again. VERY easy to make.

Six-Story Salad

This took some time to prepare but was tasty in the end. I would use less quinoa and less cilantro next time - but that is just my taste. I did really enjoy it and look forward to having the leftovers for lunch this coming week.

Very quick! Very easy! I assembled salad ahead of time then chopped mint and basil to add before drizzling on dressing and serving. Very good for you too - dressing is yogurt and olive oil based.

These were wonderful! The sauce is awesome and packs some heat. I will definitely make this again. I did not blend my sauce as they suggested to the consistency of ketchup I kept some texture to mine and preferred it that way.

Confetti Salad

Very good salad. A LOT of dicing but really a beautiful salad with a light dressing. Everything about it was good. At the last minute I discovered that I only had 1/2 a lemon so our dressing was citrus - half lime and half lemon and that was very good.

Pizza Margherita

Excellent! Very basic margherita pizza - but we needed the directions for grilling pizza too as we had never done it. It was SO easy and this was delicious. We will definitely be making this again.

Outstanding! We loved this rub a lot and the applesauce was very tasty. Our applesauce was a little thick I would add more apple juice next time - but the taste was fine. My daughter won't eat pork so we made her a chicken breast - she gave that high marks too.

Tequila Shrimp

We used jumbo shrimp and marinated for a little over an hour. Good flavor.

N'Awlins Barbecue Shrimp

Outstanding. Made for a crowd and everyone loved them. Strong, spicy flavor but good. I used peeled and deveined shrimp just for easier eating and no one seemed to mind.

Very easy and very good. We forgot to read ahead and didn't put the paste on the fish and put it back in the fridge. We just put the paste on and put it on the grill. It probably could have benefited from a little time in the fridge. But still great!

French Green Lentil Salad

Wonderful dish. Unusual, wonderful flavors. I will make this dish again and again.

As with every other recipe in this cookbook - we loved these. Sauce was wonderful, a bit thick - but wonderful. I added about 5 tablespoons of water to it and it was still not a pourable consistency - we spooned it on. It probably depends on the size of your peppers. It still tasted wonderful.

These were very good and very easy to make. With the prosciutto wrapped around the scallops it was a filling meal too. We found that three scallops was a very filling meal. I will make these again.

I had never cooked with Black Rice but was able to find a blend with it in Whole Foods. It has a very unique look and a great taste. The complete dish was not as tasty as I expected though. It was god but not great as I usually get from this book.

These were super easy to prepare and delicious. I would definitely make again.
