Easy recipe to put in the slow cooker before going to work. So nice to come home to a hot meal on a cold winter night. This was delicious. We had some leftovers later in the week as an open faced sandwich. Delicious!

Great meal for a cold night. These were delicious. My daughter and her husband were visiting and since she doesn't eat red meat I also make her a version using chicken and chicken broth. It was great too.

I have made this many times since adding this book to my collection. My family and I love this one. It's so easy to make, pretty to look at and delicious to eat. Great for taking to a pot luck. Be prepared to share the recipe!

I love chocolate and adore chocolate desserts but my son doesn't care for chocolate. I was looking for something to make for him and decided on this cake. He loved it as did his Dad. It's amazing. I took some to work to share with my two lunch mates and they sure enjoyed it too. It's one I'll make again for sure.

This one was just ok. We did like the heat but there seemed to be too much sauce for my amount of chicken.

We loved these. The first time I made them I made half without the Swiss. Even though they are great with the cheese I liked them even better without. This is a fast easy meal for a work night. All you need to add is some cranberry sauce and a veggie and you're all set.

This one is so easy to throw together when you return home from work after a hard day. It's very filling and good.

This is amazing! My family loved it. The brie was an interesting addition to the hash browns. As my mother in law would say it gave the casserole a college education. Great for a Sunday brunch.

My daughter and I loved this one. We enjoyed the little kick the chipotles gave the dish.

I didn't find anything that different about this one. It was just ok.

This was very good. I enjoyed the homemade sauce much better than store bought. You need to plan for a little marinating though.

The sauce for these was delicious as a dipping sauce for snow peas. The sesame ginger also went great with the salmon cakes.

This one had a bit of confusing, at least to my daughter and I. We read it to say the phyllo needed to be cut in long strips (long-wise) but when I did that it was hard to get the fruit on and fold. So the next stack I cut the other way and it worked much better and looked more like the ones in the picture. They were quiet good and my picky husband even liked them

Everyday Pasta
By Giada De Laurentiis
Clarkson Potter - 2007
A good cheesy mac and cheese with Fontina, Parmesan, and Mozzarella. The addition of the optional ham in my opinion bumps this up from a side dish to a main dish. We love trying new mac and cheeses and this one was great.

The Comfort Table: Recipes for Everyday Occasions
By Katie Lee
Simon Spotlight Entertainment - 2009
This is a wonderful fall salad full of fall flavors. The dressing would be good on a variety of salads. I couldn't find just baby arugula so I used mixed baby greens that contained arugula. I love Pomegranate molasses but we are unable to find it here and I was out of what I brought back from California with me so I used the suggested option of honey and used honey from our own bees.

The Deen Bros. Cookbook
By Jamie Deen, Bobby Deen, Melissa Clark

We love macaroni and cheese and love finding and trying new recipes. This is a nice mac and cheese with American and cheddar cheeses. Since we like spicy too the addition of the hot sauce kicked it up a bit.

Cowgirl Cuisine: Rustic Recipes and Cowgirl Adventures from a Texas Ranch
By Paula Disbrowe
William Morrow Cookbooks - 2007
We love greens and my family usually has a fall patch of greens growing in the garden. I'm always on the lookout for new ways to fix those greens. This is a delicious recipe. I used Kale, mustard and turnip greens. The addition of onions, red pepper flakes, and lemon juice gave a wake up call to those tasty greens.

Being a green lover I had to try this recipe and I sure was glad I did. The garlic, tomatoes and peppers gave the greens a delightful flavor.

I did notice one mistake in this bean recipe. In the instructions it doesn't say how to make a puree of the chipotle chiles. Not a problem for me but someone with little cooking experience might find this confusing.
I love the flavor of chipotles and with the addition of a jalapeno, they sure did make these pintos stand up and take notice. Nice and a bit spicy.

These make a wonderful lunch. My family loves the chipotle cream on other sandwiches and wraps as well.
We enjoy these often.

This was so easy to toss the ingredients into the slow cooker before leaving for work. When I got home all I had to do was cook some pasta to spoon the tasty results over.

I ran into a problem with this one. It called for 2 cans of Campbell's Condensed Creamy Chicken Verde Soup. I couldn't find it, so I went on line and discovered it was discontinued, but Campbell's did have a recipe of how to make your own using condensed cream of chicken soup, some spices and peppers. The dish turned out great.
If you want to try this recipe here's what I found on line from Campbell's.
Add the following to Campbell's Cream of Chicken Soup (11oz can)
1 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tsp Ground Cilantro (or 1/2 tsp fresh chopped Cilantro)
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 can Chopped Green Chiles (4oz)*
(or 1/3 cup chopped roasted green chiles peppers - for those
fortunate enough to live in chile pepper country)
1/2 tsp pure Green Chile Powder (not store bought chile seasoning, like
McCormack's)**
1/2 TBSP Chopped JalapeƱo (seeded & veined)
To add more heat you can do the following
1) Leave the veins and seeds with the JalapeƱos
2) add 1/4 - 1 tsp Cayenne Powder
3) Use medium or hot chiles
* Campbell's recommends using MILD Ortega Chopped Green Chiles. To boost the heat use medium or hot instead.
** If you use Chile Seasoning instead of Chile Powder, cut the Cumin and Garlic Powder in half. A great source of Chile Powder, in varying degrees of heat and varieties, is the Chile Shop (http://www.thechileshop.com). They carry Green Chile Powder, as well as at least 10 varieties of Chile Powder, dried pods, and roasted New Mexico Green Chiles. I've been using their products for over 15 years.

This was good but gravy a little bit soupier than we like. My son, Dexter wants me to make this one again and add some barley to soak up some of the juices. We love barley!

The Gift of Southern Cooking: Recipes and Revelations from Two Great American Cooks
By Edna Lewis, Scott Peacock
Knopf - 2003
This is a delicious fried chicken but not for the faint of heart as it is fried in a combination of lard and butter with some ham bits. Not something I'd recommend for everyday but great as a special occasion meal.

We love these barley bites and have made them several times. They are a bit spicy but we love spicy! Biker Billy suggests serving them instead of hash browns for breakfast. We enjoy them for a snack.

These shells are so good it's hard to believe they're actually healthy. I often use cottage cheese instead of ricotta when making these since we like that better.

An amazing dish with lots of flavor. Has quiet a few ingredients but it's so worth it. The best part it's good for you if you're trying to watch your weight.

This was pretty good but probably not something I'd make again. It wasn't hard to make just not extra special.

We love hot and sour soup you can get in Chinese Restaurants. This is a great recipe that you can make at home. Most of the ingredients are easily found in your local markets or in an Asian grocery store.

These were fairly easy to make and quiet good. My kids did think a bit to corn starchy but think if it was sprinkled over then stirred in it would be better.

This dish is amazing. Who'd think broccoli could be this good. We loved this one. Loads of flavor to make even the non broccoli lover stand up and take notice.

This one has lots of WOW! We loved it. I used hot sesame oil, since we like spicy and we all added a bit of extra soy sauce after it was cooked. YUMMY!

This was a delicious meal. You just need to add a veggie and you're all set. We love the flavor that chipotles give a dish and this was great.

This was good but we thought it needed a bit more salt and maybe some cayenne for some heat.
