Dolce Italiano: Desserts from the Babbo Kitchen
By Gina DePalma, Mario Batali
W.W. Norton & Co. - 2007
I have made these twice and both times they were a hit. Both times I used Lemoncello instead of Grappa (we are not grappa fans). I also put some lemon zest in both the cake and the syrup. Absolutely divine with Lemoncello.
I used my Wilton mini-bundt pan that has 12 - 1/2 cup molds in it. 11 minutes to bake on convection and 15 to bake on regular. These seemed to be the perfect small size. Makes 24.

WONDERFUL!! Very lemony! A bit of work but well worth it. Read the recipe through and plan ahead. Made for Mother's Day 2009 and it was hit.

FABULOUS! These were a huge hit on Mother's Day. Everyone loved them. I had a difficult time getting the rounded look as the picture in the cookbook but they were still good. I think on my later batches I should have let the pans cool more I think that is why mine were flatter. Learn from my mistakes. I would definitely make again.

Everyone loved this when I served it on Mother's Day. But I found it difficult to make (thus the 4 rating). In fact I made two since my first one fell so badly even though I cooked it longer than the recipe said and the toothpick came out clean. I had enough ingredients so I made it again the next morning with the same result only not quite as bad. If I make it one more time will it work? Actually once the glaze was on it, it did look ok and no one could tell it had fallen but me when looking at it. But after all of that work it would have been nice to have had a pretty cake.

The flavors were good. But my batter was very thick and did not 'pour' at all. I had to scoop it into the pan. Cake was dense and crumbly. I'm not sure I would make it again since I'm not sure how to change it to make it better.

Wonderful dish! We had several guests who had to watch their fat intake for Christmas. We made this as one of our side dishes and it was a huge hit. I have since made it 5 or 6 more times and every time I serve people love it, whether they are watching their fat intake or not.
I also used skim milk instead of 1% and it was still delicious. With all of that cheese you just can't tell.

A great salad and a very unusual way to use watermelon. I'm not a huge watermelon fan and I thought that this was very tasty. I have made this twice now and both times the gang I was serving it to loved it.

We loved this! It was really very good!

Really very good! I needed more liquid then recipe called for. This makes a LOT - I thought it was a lot more than 6 side dishes.

I made this for a dinner party and everyone loved it! I substituted Parmesan for provolone and it was just wonderful. Really VERY easy and fun to make. I had my butcher pound the flank steak which made it even easier.

Everyday With Rachael Ray
(February, 2010)
I tried this recipe after reading Southerncookers review. And all I have to say is AWESOME! I made it to the recipe except after I had added the Sesame Oil to the pot I decided not to coat the noodles in the additional 1 T. It was a little over powering to me. I have to say I didn't miss it (or the additional fat) at all probably because my mouth was on fire! I love this and I can't wait for my son and husband to have it tomorrow night when they get home (I thought it looked like it would be good for leftovers too since I don't have time to cook tomorrow). I don't think I have made a Rachael Ray recipe before - I think that this was a good one to start with.
I got my recipe here since I do not get the magazine:

Grilled Veal Chops with Herb Cheese, Wild Mushroom-Tomato Bordelaise and Prosciutto-wrapped Asparagu
Add this to the end of the URL it was too long to fit:

We made with filet's as we are not veal fans and this was WONDERFUL. I have served this for many dinner parties and it is always a hit. The Wild Mushroom sauce is expensive to make (you need a lot of mushrooms) but we think it is worth it.

The whole family liked this. I would consider fresh apples instead of dried next time but I wonder if they would break down too much.

Made for Christmas 2007. Liked the taste but the appearance was ugly. Make sure to measure the quantity of nuts carefully or you will get piles of nuts in the middle of your cookie.

A delicious salad. I have even used canned beets (and roasted them) for this and they were wonderful too.

I LOVED this (in fact I'm eating it as I write this)! Great flavor, filling, yet good for you. I used double the green beans and no yellow beans since I couldn't find them. Great!

I made these for our Superbowl party in the crockpot and everyone seemed to like them - I thought that they were ok. I did use low-sodium everything, as we had a lot of heart patients, that may be why.

I have made this two times and really love it. Both times I made it I thought that there was too much quinoa for the other goodies. Next time I will reduce quinoa to 1 - 1 1/2 cups.

Very cheesy and good. Both of my kids loved it and had seconds. I made it pretty much to recipe. I used skim milk as that is all we had and it was fine. I would definitely make this again. There is a lot of clean up though.

Beer and bar-b-que. They just go together. We used a Smithwick's beer which worked great. These ribs were tender, fall off the bone, and delicious.

Did not care for these at all. Neither did any of my 12 guests that I served them to. Would not make again.

Outstanding!! Made for a group of 12 and they were a big hit. If there are non-meat eaters in the group just give them one of the mushrooms - they were fabulous!

Excellent risotto!! Worth every minute of preparation. I didn't want to pay the money for the 1 oz of dried Porcini's so I used a lb of shitake's. I also used vegetable stock as I didn't have enough chicken stock. We loved this!
