The Sweet Melissa Baking Book: Recipes from the Beloved Bakery for Everyone's Favorite Treats
By Melissa Murphy

I loved the new (to me) second rise method with boiling water in the oven. This is a good cinnamon bun, easy to make, but the cook time is definitely too long (25min for me instead of 45).

Very easy, relatively quick and delicious! I made hot dog buns, and can't wait to try the other two variations.

I love the buns, they are so airy and light. They look and taste very "professionally made." I did use the lemon zest/extract in both the buns and the fondant...and it was a bit much for me (vaguely lemon cleaner) and way too much for my husband. I would definitely make these again, just using vanilla instead of lemon!

The cake was light, the pineapple was gooey and sweet. A great and easy recipe for a classic cake.
My baking time was nearly doubled for some reason. But the cake was very good.

The blackberries didn't really add much except visual interest. Tasty. The cardamom was a nice touch. Not too sweet.

I'm sure this is a lovely main course, but something about it just wasn't for me. Might have been the combination of fennel and rosemary?

This is a nice way to dress up broccoli, I think next time I would cut the lemon though.

This looked beautiful. But...the recommended cheese never really melted, and it never browned/crisped on the top despite the thirty minutes it spent without the "lid" at the end of bake time. I couldn't really taste the bacon or herbs...tempted to try this again just to doctor it up. I really wanted to love this, but it was "meh."

Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston's Flour Bakery + Cafe
By Joanne Chang, Christie Matheson
Chronicle Books - 2010
This was definitely a project best undertaken over a day or two since the pate brisee, frangipani, and pears all need to be separately prepared, then cooled/refrigerated before assembling the crostata and doing the final bake. But...it's amazing. The frangipani makes it.
